About

A programme concept rooted in the coast

APTDC is developing a proposal to protect and grow women-led tourism along Kenya's coast. It is a design, not yet a delivered programme.

Why this, why here

Women run many of the guesthouses, food stalls, beach businesses and homestays that make coastal Kenya welcoming. The proposal explores how CSR investment could strengthen their safety, rights and earnings while protecting the marine and cultural heritage tourism depends on.

Guiding principles

  • Women's leadership and ownership
  • Do no harm: safety and dignity first
  • Community consent and benefit
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Honest, transparent reporting
